Hen Activities in Benidorm: Trip to Guadalest with Henorita
Party by night and breathe some fresh Spanish mountain air during the day. Take a trip with Henorita out to Benidorm's surrounding mountains and visit the picturesque village of Guadalest. Originally settled over 1200 years ago by the conquering moors, this magnificent fortress village is one of the top tourist attractions in the whole of Spain. |
Guadalest is located in the Marina Baixa area about 20 minutes drive from Benidorm, nestled between two of the highest mountain ranges in the region. The old castle ruins can be seen perched high upon the vertical rocky crags as you approach, along with the villages most striking feature, its famous white-washed bell tower. |
Once you enter the narrow streets in the lower half of the village you will come across all sorts of arts and crafts shops, small museums, restaurants and bars. Walk up through the Gate of San Jose, a 50 foot tunnel carved through solid rock, and you will find yourself in the upper part of the village within the medieval walls of this ancient fortress. |
Here you'll be able to visit the Orduņa Family house (the keepers of the fort) and gain access to the castle itself. Although in ruins, this is where you will enjoy the best views down on the valley below. After a walk around the old walls, battlements and the small cemetery you can relax and contemplate the beautiful turquoise waters of the reservoir below over a refreshing drink in the main courtyard, now the main town square. |
After working up an appetite we will take you to an authentic Spanish restaurant with more breathtaking views. Here you can enjoy a traditional rural Spanish lunch of roast lamb before heading back to Benidorm for a well earned siesta after this great day out! |
